Universiti Malaya (UM) offers 13 on-campus residential colleges (Kolej Kediaman) accommodating approximately 12,000 students — about 65% of all undergraduate enrolees.

Universiti Malaya's residential colleges have a storied history dating back to 1959, when the First Residential College was built with just 28 student residents. Today, the network has grown into 13 colleges, from the heritage Tuanku Abdul Rahman College to the modern KK13.

Each kolej kediaman provides residents with fully furnished rooms, Wi-Fi, cafeteria, computer labs, sports facilities, laundry services, and dedicated study rooms. Residence fees include utility bills — water, electricity, and UM Wi-Fi — making campus living both convenient and cost-effective.
